Attractions

There are leisure centres and golf courses in Machynlleth and Aberdovey. Pony trekking, fishing, clay pigeon shooting and sailing nearby. The area is ideal for walkers and bird watching; artists too. The villages and towns have a welcoming feel, so you can simply unwind, enjoy the beauty of the countryside or pack your days with all kinds of activities.

Centre for Alternative Technology - Machynlleth

Nestled in the hillsides of Southern Snowdonia is one of the world’s most renowned eco-centres, featuring interactive displays and practical examples of sustainable living, renewable energy and organic gardening. It is a great place for children too, packed full of interactive displays to keep little hands and feet busy for hours.

Corris Railway

The Corris Railway is a narrow gauge (2' 3") railway whose origins date back to the 1850s. Nowadays it is run between Good Friday and the end of October, with a passenger services on Saturdays, Sundays and Bank Holidays through the summer and including a selection of weekday running too (for a full timetable visit www.corris.co.uk).

Aberdovey Beach

Aberdyfi (Aberdovey) is a thriving little harbour resort set within the Snowdonia National Park, where the river Dyfi meets the blue waters of Cardigan Bay. Aberdyfi has watersports galore - sailing, sailboarding, rowing, canoeing, fishing and boat trips. In the summer, there are yachting regattas and other water spectacles along with family entertainment on its award-winning beaches.

Llyn Clywedog

Llyn Clywedog is a man made reservoir formed by the construction of the Clywedog Dam. The dam was built between 1965-67 to regulate the flow of water in the Severn.

Red Kite Centre

Mid Wales has the greatest density and diversity of birds of prey in southern Britain. Mid Wales was home to the last remaining Native Red Kites. Now, due to the hard work of the Conservation bodies here in Wales, Red Kites are once again in the ascendance.
